gratin-ish


Let's start out with the blackberry bellini:


Muddle some blackberries and sugar, through that shit in a champagne flute, and add your sparkling wine of choice (in this case $6.99 Prosecco). Then go ahead and top with some St-Germain, 'cause why wouldn't you? Look! three of my favorite things, + sugar: Heaven.


That's Pedro! What a sweetheart. He's four months old, and even smaller then he appears to be. This little black chihuahua rascal is my newest roommate. And you know what? He snores... ah!

So my friend Omar the Hyena came over, and i was like, "What do you want me to call you in my blog?" and he was like, "I don't know... Omar the Hyena." so there you go.

aNyway, i made dinner to go with the bellinis (virgin for Omar, *cause that's how he likes everything). It consisted of this Zucchini Rice Gratin  from Smitten Kitchen, which came out like a dream:
 



And these chicken skewers marinated in a Garlic-Mustard sauce also from Smitten K (oBvi my fav site ever. The Pictures!).



This pic is actually one from the website because i was so excited to cook/shovel food into my mouth that i forgot to take any. Then O-the-H was like, "you can take a picture of my plate." and so he nicely arranged what was left.


I made peach coffee cake and iced coffee/vino verde with muddled peaches for dessert. I didn't have a cake pan though, so i had to use a pie plate and it spilled over into the oven, so when i tried to cook arancini bites at 2am the next night it smoked up the house and i got angry text messages...


I forgot to take a picture of that to, but it looked exactly like this:



I swear.  

Then we watched Rambo 3 (not first blood, apparently) and danced into the wee hours of the morning/Omar went home, LK fell asleep putting Pedro to bed, and i watched Glee.
