English Garden.

So this drink is delicious. I mean i love England AnD Gardens, so imagine my excitement when I found this little gem. It's basically:

1 part gin
1 part st. germain
1 part pimms
2 parts apple juice
1 lime

Unless you're Nanc, and then it's 11/2 parts gin you've self infused with more juniper berries because the flavor is, "just not there," and 1/2 part Pimms, because what the fuck is that? i really like Pimm's, so i beg to differ here, but you know what? Sometimes you've just got to make your mother happy (especially when it's her b-day). So squeeze the shit out of that lime, and shut up about it.

Of course it calls for a cucumber garnish, and of cOUrse the only ingredient we don't happen to have in the house at the time is cucumber. St Germain? no probs. Random english liquor, got it! Juniper Berries to extra infuse gin, dU-uh. But cucumber? why would we have that...
At this point it occurs to me that Popou and i have a garden. How perfect would that be? Cucumbers from the garden, for a drink half of which the title is garden! Who would have thought!

Anyway it's gotten a little overgrown. This is pretty much my fault because i haven't really touched it in a month, and popou's really old and can't be expected to maintain critical upkeep. Anywho I'm on the cucumber hunt, and am face with the realization that the only thing i planted that is still alive are squash:

But man are they alive! Look at that blossom ready to bloom! There was this restaurant in SF called COCO500 that i went to because Jenn Beisty from Top Chef Season 4 was the exec Chef at the time, and i had this Squash Blossom Pizza with White Truffle, and Oh mAN!!! awesome. Also when Anthony Bourdain went to like Italy or somewhere they made him this squash blossom pasta thing, and i drool just thinking about it. Anyway, what i'm trying to say here is: Oh the pastabilities!
So i did find a cucumber:

But it's still a baby!/ the ONLY cucumber in the garden, and i'm not enough of a jerk to take Popou's only cucumber for a drink garnish... So i used a lime wedge. Shake and serve in a mason jar, because: dU-uh.

Just another summer day in the country side. Did i mention i live at an old folks retirement resort?

Jk, jk. But nothing like a delicious drink in a broken cold jacuzzi, am i right??

  1. You know, I've been wanting a way to mix two of my favorite liquors together in a new and exciting manner. Well done. Also, that thing is still broken? Didn't they send it in to be fixed like 5 times already?

  2. Nah they just got random people they know to come over and try. I think mom's gonna lay down the law when fall hits.
